(I highly recommend reading this post in it's original format on Blogspot at CreativeCliche, as the formatting does not carry over when it is imported to other sites.)
I'm very sorry for the delay in posting my holiday pictures: several factors have contributed to delaying this post. As I was a little trigger-happy with my camera, I have over 500 pictures from my holidays abroad. Yes, I know. But, as the song goes, "You would have done the same!" In any case, the first installment is just my first couple of days in Germany.
Anja, Me, and Anja before boarding the plane in Aberdeen. COLD!
We were just a bit bored in the queue to board the puddle-jumper from Aberdeen to Dublin, so Anja (the one on the right) got a quick photo.
We arrived in Frankfurt... late, and one of my hosts' friends picked us up at the airport and drove us to Göttingen, where we stayed for the next day and a half.
Me, in Göttingen.
And it's kinda cold, too.
Gänseliesel-- the most kissed girl in the world.
Actually, she may be just that. It's tradition for postgraduate students to give this lovely lass a kiss on the day they receive their doctorate. I actually got to see this whilst I was there.
One of the lions guarding the Town Hall.
Isn't he a handsome lad?!
St. Johannis Church, as seen from atop St. Jacobi.
It was quite a hike to the top of St. Jacobi Church, but it was absolutely worth it. Such a stunning view of the city below, even if the ladders were scary. Still, it was quite amazing going up through four levels of bells. That's a lot of bells.
Sadly, I wasn't able to get a good picture of St. Jacobi, but I got a panoramic view of the city below!
People shopping at the Christmas Market below.
Everyone's trying to get their Christmas shopping done lickety-split. Some seem to be more successful than others.
I think this is St. Albani Church. Correct me if I'm wrong.
What a beautiful city. I was sorry to leave it the next day, but almost instantly forgot my regret when I arrived at Anja's home.
That's all folks!
(Dee da da dee dee DAH!)
